The Nakba is, as the Palestinians denominate the disaster, the expulsion of its territory in May 1948 by the Zionist dominant forces of just created State of Israel. According to numbers of the UN, near 800,000 Palestinians were forced to leave their lands and several thousands died defending them or in random massacres as intimidation form so that the populations leaved the villages by themselves.

There is a lot of bibliography on this historical event for Palestinians which, until today, has generated more than 4 millions refugees and tens of thousands deaths in different slaughters like those in Sabra and Chatila, Lebanon, or the one in Jenin, just to mention some examples. Several historians maintain that this is a process of “Ethnic Cleaning” well orchestrated since beginning of 20th century which continues nowadays under different pretexts.

From this Festival we want to show all our solidarity with the refugees and with those who resist in the Gaza Strip and Cisjordania and that once for all Israel accepts the UN resolutions and put an end to the conflict with the end of the occupation of Palestine. They are our inspiration for the realisation of this Festival.

  1. GILAD ATZMON & THE ORIENT HOUSE ENSEMBLE

  2. (quartet integrated by Gilad Atzmon, Frank Harrison, Yaron Stavi and Asaf Sirkis)

Gilad Atzmon is a singular jazz composer. Of Jewish origin and an activist against the occupation of Palestine and Zionism, he has gained enemies within Israel and affections even within heads of Government as it is the case of Turkish president Erdogan, who named him, for its anti Zionists positions, as an example in Simon Peres presence during Davos Forum.

With twelve discs to his backs, this consecrated composer within the world of Jazz, will act in the rebellious scene in solidarity with the Palestinian refugees.

His web site shows videos with his music, his performances, his political thinking and its artistic worries, etc.
